Opening ceremony in the center of Belgrade

Just under 190 days left until the start of the 2nd Rugby League U19 European Championship, which will be taking place from 4 to 12 August in Belgrade. The organizing committee is working hard, in order to better organize this, so far the most important Rugby League competition in Serbia. Already now it has known that the opening ceremony of the European Championship will be on Saturday, 04 August, in the center of Belgrade (Republic Square) .

Almost all the teams started with the preparation of national teams.

This and next weekend will be held 2 open trial for players born in 1999 – 2001 in Ireland. First will be held Ireland Wolfhouns U19on Sunday 4th February in Northern Ireland. Ground: The Dub, Queens University Sports Ground, Upper Malone Road start at 1300hrs. On Sunday the 11th of February, RLI will be hosting a trial for the Republic of Ireland Eagles u19’s at 11:50am at Gormanston College Co .Meath. Ireland Rugby League on his official Facebook page said: “This is the initial opportunity for those who wish to be considered for selection for the Ireland Wolfhounds Euro 19’s squad to put themselves forward and potentially earn a trip to Serbia.”

Serbia also gathers players this weekend. Eagles announced that on March 31, 2018 they will play a match in Sofia against the Bulgarian U19 national team. It will be the first official match of these two teams. Last year at Belgrade Trophy, BelgradeU18 and SofiaU18 selections played a match. Belgrade was more successful and won by 36-16. It is certain that on both sides there will be plenty of players who played in this game.

  1. Guys, I fly into Belgrade this day Saturday, 04 August, and would like to attend this opening ceremony if the times are convenient (and I feel ok after flight from Australia).

    So can you advise of times / program of events for the day.

    Staying a ten minute walk away from Republic Square.

    Very hopeful of meeting Rugby League people from the host nation and other nations whilst in town. Long time supporter of the International game and visited South Africa, USA, France and Canada to meet with locals and officials.
